IPOH: MOHD Nazari Sabran, who lost to Dr Faizal Tajuddin in the contest for the Pasir Salak Umno Youth chief post last Saturday, is claiming the latter had distributed items during the campaigning period.
At a news conference here yesterday, Nazari said a booklet detailing Dr Faizal's campaign trail and distributed on polling day allegedly showed him distributing agriculture and sports items to delegates.
He also alleged that an observer was seated in the voting area, questioning the secrecy of the votes cast.
Urging the party to look into his complaints, Nazari, who polled 163 votes against Dr Faizal's 243, said he would lodge a complaint with the party's disciplinary committee and a police report on the matter.
Dr Faizal, he said, had visited half of the 83 branches in the division and allegedly handed the items to 12 delegates.
Dr Faizal, who is the son of Pasir Salak Umno division chief Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, denied Nazari's claims.
"It is baseless. I handed out the items not to the delegates, but for the use of grassroots members."
He said he had been representing his father since elected as division committee member in 2008.
On Nazari's threat that he would be referred to the disciplinary committee, Dr Faizal said: "Go ahead. I can answer all his allegations."
