GEORGE TOWN - Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng came under criticism on Facebook today after photos were posted showing the chief minister’s official car, PG 1, parked by a yellow line and blocking a fire hydrant.
Former Bukit Bendera MCA vice-chairman Tan Khai Beng said the photograph showed PG1 in King Street near the Esplanade at 1.50pm here today.
Tan said the Chief Minister’s official car had committed an offence under the Fire Services Act 1988 by blocking the fire hydrant.
Parti Cinta Malaysia vice president Huan Cheng Guan questioned why local council enforcement officers, which were so quick in issuing parking summonses to others, had failed to do same to PG1.
He pointed out that many motorists were issued compounds by Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang (MPPP) during the current Chinese New Year holiday period. “But MPPP dare not issue compound to PG1, which was parked along the yellow line and blocked a fire hydrant. It was a double offence. Others were issued summons. Why the double-standards?”
Facebook commenters said PG1 has been found flouting traffic rules many times. - FMT
