Najib says suing Harakah for 'FAMILY HONOR': But that's over Rosmah's son, what about your dad leaving behind MILLIONS

KUALA LUMPUR — Datuk Seri Najib Razak has defended his decision to take legal action against Harakah Daily by saying that he did so because the PAS mouthpiece defamed his family.
The prime minister said it was his right to defend himself as well as his family against the “defamatory and completely untrue” report that was not substantiated with evidence.
“Because they have defamed (my family), I have to sue them or demand they retract what they said in Harakah,” Najib was quoted by The Star as saying.
Yesterday, Najib’s lawyers delivered a letter of demand to Dr Rosli Yaakub, the managing director of Harakah.
The legal action was filed by Najib in his personal capacity over an article titled “Dana 1MDB biayai syarikat filem Riza Aziz? (1MDB funds used to finance Riza Aziz’s film company?)” that he deemed to be defamatory.
The Harakah article had questioned how Riza sourced funds to finance his company’s (Red Granite Productions) 2013 film “The Wolf of Wall Street”, and had alluded to a connection between 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds and said film.
This is not the first time that Najib has taken legal action against online publications over contentious news articles.
In May last year, Najib, in his capacity as Umno president, and his party filed a civil suit against news portal Malaysiakini over a series of readers’ posts published on their website related to the Terengganu mentri besar saga. - Malay Mail
