KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysians have been urged to gather in solidarity for Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and listen to his “last” ceramah.
Dubbed “Ceramah Grand Finale: Rakyat Hakim Negara” it will be held on Feb 9, at Padang Timur, Petaling Jaya.
Rakyat Hakim Negara secretariat Saifullah Zulkifli said the ceramah would be attended by many Pakatan Rakyat leaders and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
“We want to ask Malaysians to gather together at the Grand Finale night on the 9th.
“One of the main topics will be about the Fitnah 2 case as well as issues pertaining to the people like the misuse of power and oppression using the Sedition Act 1948,” he said in a Keadilan Daily article, adding that one of the topics would be the goods and services tax (GST).
He said Feb 10, the court decision day, would go down in political history, which was why all leaders and supporters of PKR were urged to be present in a show of support for Anwar.
“Muslims are urged to gather and pray at Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin before walking with Anwar to the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya at 8am.
Meanwhile, Keadilan Daily also reported PAS information chief Datuk Mahfuz Omar urging the party and its coalition supporters to gather in front of the courthouse in Putrajaya on Tuesday.
“I have urged them to hold a united front to show our support for Anwar on Feb 10,” Keadilan Daily reported him as saying.
He said the case had no merit and should not even have gone to trial.
“The charge is not fair. It was so clear that the case had no merit for a charge.
“The medical reports also proved that,” Mahfuz claimed, adding that if the court jailed Anwar, it would increase the distrust the people have with the nation’s judicial system. - http://www.therakyatpost.com/
