BANGSAR SHOCKER: SNATCH THIEF POUNCES AT UPMARKET BSC MALL - WHAT IS THE IGP DOING?

A closed circuit television (CCTV) recording of a snatch theft at a Kuala Lumpur shopping mall has gone viral on social media.

It is understood the incident occurred yesterday at upscale Bangsar Shopping Centre. The recording shows a motorcyclist arriving at the scene and carefully parked his motorcycle next to a luxury car.

The thief sat on his motorcycle while waiting for the right opportunity to strike. He even pretended to be looking into his bag to avoid being conspicuous. Meanwhile, a security guard is seen standing at the exit of the foyer.

As the thief noticed a woman walking out of the mall carrying some bags, he rode up to her and snatched her bag, causing her to fall.

The security guard and a valet gave chase but the thief managed to escape.

The Malaysian Insider has contacted Bangsar Shopping Centre but has yet to receive a response.

Meanwhile, some social media users had questioned why the guard had allowed the motorcyclist to wait by the car as usually cars would be asked to move away after dropping off passengers.

Brickfields police chief Azlita Johari confirmed the incident but would not give any further comment.
