Tuan Ibrahaim: We sacrificed much before, now it's time for one-on-one challenge against Umno.
KUALA SELANGOR: PAS will not give up their seats, even for their allies in the next general election.
The party’s deputy president, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, said PAS had sacrificed much to their ally during their tahaluf (cooperation) before this and it was time for the Islamic party to challenge Umno one on one without getting shortchanged by their allies.
He also referred to former allies such as Parti Negara in the 1960s, Semangat 46 and others who took advantage of the party’s help.
“When cooperating with Parti Negara, PAS gave our seats. When cooperating with PKR we gave our machinery to help our ally. Today they say that for PAS to cooperate with the new coalition means PAS must give their seats.
“That will never happen. We won’t give a single one of our seats,” he told about three thousand state PAS members at their gathering here today.
Yesterday the party’s former allies, DAP and PKR signed a blueprint with the splinter party Amanah to work together for the next election. However Pakatan Harapan has yet to make a stand if it will work with PAS.
PKR president and opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said a decision would only be made when the need arises. “That is for us to decide and we will decide when the time comes,” she said yesterday.
