MyKMU.net: Did Dr M cheat to win elections?

Pro-Umno blog wonders if former PM was speaking from experience when he claimed BN could lose the next GE if it adhered to election rules.
MahathirPETALING JAYA: Did former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad adhere to election rules when he led the BN to victory in 1999 when he lost almost 70% of the Malay support?
This is the question a pro-Umno blog is asking after the former premier claimed the BN would lose if elections were held in “an orderly manner, without fuss, without playing with the ballot box”.
MyKMU.net also wondered if Mahathir based his statement on his personal experience.
“Did he cheat to win the election?”
The blog went on to claim that it was impossible for election fraud to occur in Malaysia seeing that it was monitored by various NGOs, whose major complaint, it noted, was the biased media coverage and the gerrymandering .
The Election Commission, MyKMU.net wrote, also had an internationally recognised track record.
“The problem is that Malaysia now has a senile former premier, supported by cronies and media practitioners who are so obsessed with popularity that they do not think about the ramifications of his statements.”
Mahahtir, it alleged, would do anything to protect his interests, including destroying Umno, the BN and the country.
Malaysia’s longest serving PM, who has since become Najib Razak fiercest critic, experienced a drop in support among the Malays in the 1999 general election largely due to the sacking of his then Deputy Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
