Najib praises Khairul Idham’s win

"Congratulations Khairul Idham Pawi for creating history as Malaysia's first rider to win #ArgentinaGP kategori Moto3,” says the prime minister.
najib-khairul-idhamKUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Najib Razak said Khairul Idham Pawi had done Malaysia proud as the country’s first rider to win the Moto3, World MotoGP Championship at the Argentina Motorcycle Grand Prix.
“Congratulations Khairul Idham Pawi for creating history as Malaysia’s first rider to win #ArgentinaGP kategori Moto3. You have done us proud,” said the Prime Minister through Twitter today.
The 17-year-old Honda Team Asia rider completed the 21-lap race in 41 minutes and 35.452 seconds at Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit.
Spaniard Jorge Navarro from the Honda Estrella Galicia 0,0 team and South African Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) came in second and third after clocking 42’1.622s and 42’5.512s, respectively.
Najib was equally amazed at the grit shown by Malaysia’s other rider Adam Norrodin from the Drive M7 SIC Racing Team who managed to claim the 11th spot despite being involved in a corner accident at the final lap.
“Even though he fell in the bid to come in second, he still got up to complete the race and claim the 11th spot #ArgentinaGP,” Najib noted.
Khairul Idham collected 25 points from the win to be in fourth position while Adam remains at 19th with five points after the second leg of the championship.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also congratulated Khairul Idham on his victory, taking to Twitter with the message, “Congratulations, Khairul Idham Pawi for winning #motoGP3 at Argentina! Thank you for bringing glory to the country.”
