Nazir, you’re not the treasurer of Umno, right?

YOURSAY | ‘Some easy questions for Nazir: Was the amount you received in US dollars?’
WDA: Just when we thought there was at least one person in the Razak clan that had some integrity, this revelation by CIMB chairperson Nazir Abdul Razak is a huge letdown.
It's not surprising, though. They do say that blood is, after all, thicker than water.
You've lost our respect. You helped put this man in his current position. The only way you can redeem yourself is to help bring him down.
Abasir: Okay now, some really easy questions for Nazir: Was the amount you received in US dollars?
If it was in US dollars, did you ask your brother why Malaysians would 'donate' in US dollars? Who cashed the cheque (if indeed it was one), where and when? Which bank was the amount drawn on?
What exactly was your instruction to your relationship manager? How much (in ringgit) did your relationship manager realise? In what denominations?
Where were the millions stored after conversion - in your bank or in the relationship manager's house or at your place?
How many people managed/supervised the distribution to those on your brother's list? Who were they - your staff, your friends or your family members? Over what period and where?
What acknowledgement, if any, did you receive from the recipients? Did you report this ‘transaction’ and distribution to anyone? Why? Why not?
Tmf: Seriously, if my brother asks me to open an account to help him disburse RM10,000 to several people, I wouldn't do it without asking many questions and I believe, after whatever answer that can possibly be given, I still wouldn't do it.
And I am not even a banker but just a layman exercising my common sense.
Mamadias: The question is, Nazir, why use your own account since you were the chairperson of one of the biggest banks?
Is it because it would be harder for politically exposed person (PEP) like you compared to another person, since you are the brother of the PM and chairperson of CIMB Bank?
Honestly, there is nothing wrong for you to raise money from your corporate friends for your brother's political campaign.
But what matters is why collect money in your own account and then distribute it to the politicians? You are not the secretary-general or treasurer of Umno, right?
Legit: Nazir, don't you think distributing money to whoever to ostensibly buy the election could be construed as corruption and unethical?
Don't you know getting so much cash from your PM brother is suspicious and weren't you interested to know where it came from?
You are the chairperson of the second largest bank in the country and you don't understand the meaning of due diligence?
Appum: I am simple-minded. I accept your explanation.
Now, let me ask you one question: do you believe in the money trail exposed by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) of billions going into your brother's personal accounts? If yes, why? If not, why?
Odin Tajué: Your Royal Highness Prince Nazir Abdulaziz bin Abdul Rezeki bin Majed al-Saud, my friend Appum above is simple-minded. That means he is cleverer than me.
You see, I am feeble-minded. So I totally believe in your innocence. Now, when can you give a gift to me? Say, to the tune of perhaps US$681 million?
Don't forget to send a letter to me telling me that you are giving it in appreciation of me taking my dogs for a two-hour exercise every day, seven days a week, that I can use the gift in any way I like, that you expect nothing in return, that it is not a bribe, and that we are not engaged in any corrupt practices.
And please also backdate the letter to that time when Adam was still running around naked in Eden. Peace be unto you! Oops, sorry. I retract that. We infidels are not supposed to say that to Muslims.
RCZ: Nazir, your answer doesn't make sense and is sickening coming from a senior and seasoned banker.
Firstly, where and how did the money come into Najib’s hands? Was it laundered? Was it legally obtained? Didn't you have to know this before dirtying your hands?
Secondly, where did the US$7 million go? Bribe Umno’s leaders? Used to rig the elections? You just make such payments and think it is okay because you didn't keep any sen of it?
Dalvik: Sounds familiar? "The money was not for personal gain", yet there was a shopping spree on a Hawaiian island, etc. And now, the brother also claimed "it didn't involve anything wrong". Yes, in brothers we trust.
Anonymous #32557251: If my ‘friend’ from Nigeria used my bank account to distribute money, which I think is coming from legitimate source (because he's my friend and I trust him) and I take no cut from the exercise, am I doing anything wrong?
VP Biden: It's all about moral values, little brother. Was it morally right to do what you did? -Mkini
