PETALING JAYA: The Opposition-led Selangor Government only allocated three acres of land to build a school in Bandar Utama, instead of six acres as claimed by a PKR lawmaker, the Education Minister revealed.
In a written reply, Mahdzir Khalid explained Putrajaya was merely adhering to the approval by the state government.
“The minister found in the records that the Selangor state exco meeting approved only three acres of land on April 9, 1997.
“Even though there are parties claiming that the original developer allocated six acres of land, the final decision lies with the state government.”
Mahdzir said this in response to a question posed by R Sivarasa (PKR–Subang), who wanted to know if the Federal Government would pressure MIC to return three acres of land meant for SJKT Effingham in Bandar Utama.
Sivarasa said the developer had allocated six acres of land for the school but half of it was “given to MIC.”
Mahdzir explained the school was a government-aided school and land matters came under the purview of the school advisory board.
