SINGAPORE: A fresh psychiatric assessment has been sought on a man who allegedly assaulted Malaysian actor Kamal Adli in March.
The man’s lawyer, Wee Hong Shern, said he had requested another assessment on his client and was awaiting clarification.
District Judge Terence Tay set July 31 for the next mention of the case. The accused on Monday appeared via a video link.
The court had ordered the man to be remanded for three weeks to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at the Singapore Institute of Mental Health.
The 33-year-old man was charged on March 14 for suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
Kamal had to undergo surgery after he was assaulted by a man with a baton at the end of the three-day Hari Raya Mega Sale event at the Singapore Expo exhibition hall. - FMT
