Kedah PKR deputy communications director R Suntaraju today said he accepted the party’s decision to drop him from contesting the Bukit Selambau seat.
This follows PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail’s announcement yesterday that Bukit Selambau incumbent R Summugam will once again be fielded to defend the seat.
“I accept the party’s decision. As a party member, I will continue to give my best in this coming state elections,” Suntaraju told Malaysiakini.
Saifuddin’s announcement was made three days after PKR president Anwar Ibrahim announced Suntaraju’s candidacy to replace Summugam in Bukit Selambau.
However, the reason behind the change was not made public.
Ahead of the candidate nomination day tomorrow, Summugam is set to face off against Perikatan Nasional’s Azizan Hamzah.
Summugam previously said he was not surprised by the change, although he did not protest the initial decision to replace him with Suntaraju. - Mkini
