Many await MACC’s action against Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s recent speech, which was said to “normalise corruption”, said PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Despite the commotion online over the speech in Terengganu, it seems MACC has yet to issue any statement about the matter, Tuan Ibrahim (above) said.
“This is very different from the immediate statements against the opposition.
“To the point that the bus service prepared by the Kelantan government for the convenience of voters to return to vote, with no conditions, is seen as a bribery offence,” the Kubang Kerian MP said in a Facebook post today.
He also criticised Bersih for allegedly staying silent when the current government commits electoral offences even though they were very vocal against the previous governments.
Zahid, who is also the rural and regional development minister, previously found himself in hot soup over his speech when announcing the allocations provided by his ministry at an event.
After revealing his ministry will give RM250,000 to the Terengganu Youth Council and RM200,000 to motorcycle teams throughout the state, Zahid then asked the youths at the event to vote for the “blue and red wave” in the Aug 12 state polls.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman called out the speech as “normalising corruption” while Terengganu Muda also lodged a police report over the matter.
Bersih also slammed Zahid for the speech and urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to control his cabinet members.
Zahid has denied he was normalising corruption, saying the allocations announced were necessary to support young people in the country.
Meanwhile, MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki advised against providing bus services to voters during the state election period, saying it could raise suspicion.
The Kelantan government earlier announced a bus initiative for students for them to return to vote. - Mkini
