Pakatan Harapan and BN top leaders shared a stage today to launch their party election machinery at the Selangor level.
The launch was led by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, his deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and Selangor Umno chief Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.
In addition, the event at Laman Niaga Bandar Baru Bangi was also attended by cabinet members, as well as thousands of supporters from both coalitions.
At the launch, the top two leaders urged supporters to reject “traitors” and put an end to their pollical careers in the state elections.
While they did not name the treacherous individuals, it is believed they were referring to former Selangor menteri besar Azmin Ali and former Selangor BN chairperson Noh Omar.
“We’ll kick out those who betray. If you see the traitor’s face, kick them out quickly.
“In the Selangor state election, make sure the traitors’ political careers are ended, their houses torn down, their land taken and cast into the sea. That is the meaning of Malay culture,” Anwar said to the cheers of supporters from both coalitions.
Meanwhile, Zahid thanked Harapan for allowing BN to contest several seats in Selangor.
He said the BN election machinery is determined to secure the unity government’s victory to continue administering Selangor.
“Yes, we were once enemies. What has Anwar never said about me, and what have I not said about Anwar? Those are old stories; we leave them behind and turn a new leaf.
“On July 29, we will nominate our candidates. I wish to thank Anwar and Harapan for giving BN a chance in Selangor,” he said.
The Umno president also voiced confidence that BN will become a part of the Selangor government after polling day on Aug 12.
Zahid also thanked MCA and MIC for continuing to support the unity government even though they have decided to sit out of the election.
The Bagan Datuk MP then praised Amirudin, whom he described as a young and capable leader - who is fair to all races.
“We need to maintain the administration under Amirudin, he has helped Selangor progress,” Zahid said. - Mkini
