I once took a picture of Dr Mahathir's shoes at his house in Cyberjaya. Also Tun Siti's. One night the blogger Apanama and I were suddenly asked to come by for dinner with Dr M and Tun Siti. It was a simple home-cooked meal, nasi putih, kangkung, some fish and chicken (I think). The four of us ate home-style, Tun Siti and I using fingers.
Back to the shoes - they were neatly arranged on the floor, at the bottom of the stairs. Again just homestyle. There were possibly eight or 10 pairs, lebih kurang. Dr M's regular shoes, his walking shoes, Tun Siti's casuals etc. That was it. Plus the house is a relatively small bungalow - nothing much to shout about. The living and dining are just the same room.
Dr Mahathir did not have many cars. No flashy cars at all. He liked that green coloured Nissan limousine - a Japanese car. That was it.
What Chegubard says above is not to be dismissed lightly. If the government changes these things may pop up again. That is the nature of these things.
