The netizen who yesterday prayed for PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s death has “apologised” for his posting.
This comes after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s call for social media user Zaki Yamani to do so.
“Taking heed of the views from Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and my friends, I apologise to the wives and families of Hadi (above) if my remarks caused feelings to be hurt,” Zaki said in a posting on Twitter this morning.
When another netizen pointed out that his apology was “PAS-style” for saying “if it caused hurt”, Zaki laughed.
Zaki had tweeted a prayer yesterday for Hadi's death, whose health at the time was reportedly deteriorating while receiving treatment at the hospital.
This prompted Anwar to demand he apologise immediately for the posting, saying that he opposed and regretted Zaki's “rude” posting.
Hadi’s health has since stabilised, and he was reportedly discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon.
News portal MalaysiaNow also claimed that Zaki is an aide to Anwar’s political secretary Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin, in its article on this matter yesterday.
Shamsul has since called for the portal to retract that article as the allegations linking him and Zaki have “no basis”. - Mkini
