BN has accepted MCA and MIC's position to not campaign for Pakatan Harapan during the upcoming state elections.
The matter was discussed during the BN supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur last night, according to sources.
"MCA and MIC explained why they cannot campaign for Harapan during the state elections.
"After hearing the explanations, the BN supreme council agreed with the position held by the two parties," said a source.
However, Umno has committed to campaigning for Harapan candidates.
Meanwhile, the source said that the meeting did not discuss MCA and MIC's decision not to field candidates for the election.
"No discussions. The BN chairperson (Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) said Umno took note of them and respected the decision.
"However, MCA and MIC leaders vowed to provide their full support for the unity government led by Anwar Ibrahim," said the source.
MCA and MIC dismissed suggestions that it was boycotting the Harapan-BN pact and instead claimed that their decision was purely tactical.
However, there are speculations that both parties were sidelined during seat negotiations. - Mkini
