A Selangor Royal Council member has lodged a report over caretaker Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s alleged insult of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
Former Selangor Islamic Council chairperson Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa in his report lodged at the Seksyen 6 police station, Shah Alam, said Sanusi’s alleged remarks could potentially trigger unrest, particularly in Selangor.
“The Kedah menteri besar’s action has belittled the role and functions of the royal institution and could be taken as an insult.
“I hope police will take appropriate actions against him,” said Adzib in a statement.
Sanusi had during a Perikatan Nasional ceramah allegedly insulted Sultan Sharafuddin’s choice of Selangor menteri besar.
In a video of the speech, which has gone viral on social media, the PAS election director can be seen comparing the Kedah sultan and his Selangor counterpart, whom he alleged had chosen a “lousy” menteri besar.
Aside from Adzib, another police report against Sanusi was also lodged by Orang Kaya Daerah Petaling Emran Kadir.
Also present at the police station were former auditor-general Ambrin Buang, former federal court judge Zawawi Salleh, and former Selangor state secretary Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.
Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain confirmed that police had met with Sanusi at a hotel in Bangsar this morning to record his statement in relation to the probe against him. - Mkini
