Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has taken a jab at Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor after the latter lamented the absence of the Kedah State Development Action Council meetings.
Saifuddin (above, right) sarcastically said he will handle “small projects” in the northern state and those under the purview of the federal government while Sanusi can put his time into realising his vision of a Greater Kedah.
While the council meeting has yet to convene, Saifuddin, who is the co-chair of the council, said he believed that Sanusi’s focus would be on advancing the development of a Greater Kedah.
“I want to give Sanusi the space he needs to focus on Greater Kedah’s development.
“Be it the ambitious Kulim Airport project, the land reclamation project near Sungai Petani that is worth RM40 million or the proposed racing track. These are substantial projects that demand his attention.
“Let me manage the small projects, such as water treatment plants and underprivileged schools in the state. Let him manage the billion ringgit projects,” he said at a press conference after attending a citizenship handover ceremony at his ministry today.
Previously, Sanusi had expressed disappointment over Saifuddin's alleged reluctance to convene a development action council meeting.
However, Saifuddin said Sanusi’s alleged behaviour in disclosing confidential information from government meetings to the public, especially when giving political speeches, has led to the council meeting’s cancellation.
As such, the minister said Sanusi should not be complaining.
