Anwar 'stupid' if he didn't know of Najib pardon addendum - Muhyiddin

Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin today took a swipe at Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim after the latter refused to comment on an alleged royal “addendum order” for Najib Abdul Razak to undergo house arrest.

He said Anwar would be an “idiot” prime minister if he had no idea about the alleged supplementary order, which was said to have been issued by former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

“It is weird and out of the ordinary when the prime minister said he didn’t know when asked about the addendum for Najib.

“How come the Malaysian prime minister does not know (of such an important matter)? If the prime minister indeed did not know, it means that he is really an idiot,” he said.

Muhyiddin was speaking to reporters at the Bersatu Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor, earlier today.

He was asked to comment on the issue of the alleged addendum, where Sultan Abdullah was said to have issued a supplementary order for Najib’s jail sentence to instead be served under house arrest.

Former prime minister Najib recently filed a judicial review application to compel the government to reveal the supplementary order and execute it.

His application also received the support of Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who signed an affidavit saying he had seen the royal document, and that it was shown to him by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz.

Two days ago, Anwar, when asked by the media about the matter, dismissed criticisms against Zahid’s action, saying his deputy was just acting in his capacity as Umno president.

However, Anwar refused to comment on the addendum itself, saying it came under the Pardons Board’s jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, Muhyiddin, who is also a former prime minister, said the government should take responsibility over the matter.

He sarcastically suggested that Anwar should let Zahid replace him as the prime minister as the latter seemed to know more than him.

“Ministers involved in the matter (supporting Najib’s application) had already made an announcement, but he (Anwar) said he didn’t know.

“If Zahid knows better than him, then Zahid should be the prime minister,” said the Pagoh MP in jest.

Earlier today, Anwar during a PKR special congress lambasted those who criticised the government over the house arrest issue.

He said Sultan Abdullah has the final say as the then Pardons Board chair and the federal government will not question the authority of the former Agong. - Mkini
