Chegubard’s report against Amirudin part of political game, says MB’s aide

PETALING JAYA: Blogger Badrul Hisham Shaharin’s police report against Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari is clearly part of a political game being played ahead of the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, says Amirudin’s political secretary, Saifuddin Shafi.

“This tactic is no less than a desperate attempt by certain parties ahead of the by-election, and its story and script is very easy to read.

“I am confident this accusation is similar to the episode during the 15th Selangor election that saw the current accuser face a suit from the menteri besar himself,” he said in a statement.

Saifuddin said that as Badrul had got several facts wrong, he had “invited” himself to join the group of people that will be sued, “just as being faced by a personality in a northern state after having his facts called into question in his cheap political attack”.

He was ostensibly referring to Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor, whom Amirudin is suing for claiming that his Selangor counterpart is involved in a RM10 billion project involving 600 acres with Berjaya Group founder Vincent Tan.

He said the Selangor menteri besar’s office is ready to cooperate fully with the authorities in their investigation.

PAS mouthpiece Harakah had reported today that Badrul, also known as Chegubard, had lodged a police report at the Dang Wangi police station alleging corruption in the approval of land.

Badrul had handed over to the police a letter claiming that the Selangor government had given 100.04 acres of land in Dengkil to Landasan Lumayan Berjaya Sdn Bhd.

“The company that obtained the land belongs to Berjaya Corporation Bhd, which is connected to businessman Vincent Tan,” he had claimed.

Badrul also claimed that a search of the company’s registration details found that Amirudin was on the company’s board of directors together with Tan.

He said Landasan Lumayan could not be considered a subsidiary of the state government given that the government only holds a minority interest in the company.

“The majority of shares belong to Berjaya Corporation, and Landasan Lumayan is a subsidiary of Berjaya, and its registered  address is Berjaya’s building address.

“It is clear that a very serious conflict of interest has occurred. Had the MB declared his interest in the matter and was he absent when the state government meeting approved the 100.04 acres of land?” he said. - FMT
