Police are still investigating the death of the daughter of Lahad Datu district police chief Dzulbaharin Ismail, including into the senior cop himself.
Sabah police commissioner Jauteh Dikun said this is because Dzulbaharain owns the gun involved.
“An investigation is being conducted on him because he is the one who owns the gun,” he said when met by reporters after attending the Aidilfitri celebration of the Papar parliamentary constituency and Kawang state constituency today.
Jauteh also said the investigation has not yet determined if the death was caused by negligence or otherwise.
“That’s something we haven't been able to make a decision on. We haven’t made a final decision yet until there is a full report on the results of the investigation,” he said.
He said police have not yet decided whether the district police chief will be suspended because the investigation is still ongoing.
On April 17, Bernama reported that the cause of death of Dzulbaharin’s 14-year-old daughter, who was found covered in blood in a room at her home in Taman Tabanak, Lahad Datu on April 16, was due to a single gunshot to the right chest.
