An aide to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming is expected to be named as the DAP candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.
According to a Pakatan Harapan source, Pang Sock Tao will be officially announced as the candidate tonight at their representative’s service centre in Taman Gamelan, Kuala Kubu Baharu.
The decision was reportedly made last week.
The 31-year-old from Ampang, Selangor, previously worked as a news presenter for Ubah TV, a video channel owned by DAP.
Malaysiakini has contacted Pang (above) and is awaiting her response.
Yesterday, Harapan by-election director Ng Sze Han said 10 potential names were shortlisted and finalised in its top leadership meeting last night.
He mentioned that the shortlist of 10 names includes representatives from the Malay, Chinese, and Indian communities.
The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is being held following the death of Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21 due to cancer.
The Election Commission has set May 11 as the polling day and this Saturday as the nomination day.
The by-election is the seventh since the 15th general election after the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat in August, Pulai parliamentary seat and Simpang Jeram state seat (September), Pelangai state seat (October), Jepak state seat (November), and Kemaman parliamentary seat (December). - Mkini
