Hassan Marican to head PM's new advisory committee

 

Former Petronas CEO Hassan Marican has been appointed to chair the newly formed Policy Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister (PMAC).

The Prime Minister’s Office announced the appointment in a statement today, which said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim established the PMAC to provide advice related to national development and economic resilience in line with the economy.

Previously Hassan (above) served as chairperson of the Special Advisory Body to the Minister of Finance (ACFIN) since February 2023.

Also on the committee are Ahmad Fuad Md Ali, economics professor Yeah Kim Leng, and Nungsari Ahmad Radhi, all of whom had also served on the ACFIN.

This follows the end of the ACFIN term in February.

According to the PMO, proposals ACFIN previously submitted have received due consideration, with some of them in the process of implementation.

It added that the appointed committee members will not receive payment from the government.
