The Masjid Tanah MP said people are disappointed with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for failing to deliver on the lofty promises he made in the 2022 general election.
“Many ministers in the unity government are not performing well. They played better roles in the opposition,” she said when appearing on the Keluar Sekejap podcast hosted by Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan.
“Many of the things they fought for in the opposition have not materialised since they became the government. Rather, they are doing the opposite,” she said when asked by Shahril about PN’s prospects at the next general election.
She said PN is ready to pounce on the situation by working hard to serve the people and making “attainable” offerings to voters. PN must learn from Anwar’s mistakes and avoid making lofty promises, citing Anwar’s failure to reduce petrol prices.
“That’s why any offer, any promise you want to make must be made carefully. We don’t want to make promises for the sake of popularity and end up like our 10th prime minister,” she added.
In July 2022, Anwar, then the opposition leader, promised to reduce the price of petrol in Malaysia within a day of the opposition assuming power. He later explained that an earlier promise in 2018 was not fulfilled because he was not the prime minister when Pakatan Harapan formed the government. -FMT
