PHOTO ESSAY | A single mother expressed gratitude that everyone in her family has new clothes for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
This is thanks to a donation of clothes and cash from the Santuni Kasih Ramadan programme, organised by the charity group Food For Gelandangan (FFG) and other NGOs.
The mother, who wished to be known as Hidayat, said it brought happiness to her eight children ahead of Raya.
“Alhamdulilah, as a needy person with eight children, I am thankful.
“Tonight, everyone has new clothes for Raya,” the 35-year-old told Malaysiakini.
FFG founder Azizan Zainal Abidin said 170 urban poor families and 144 impoverished children living at Jalan Belia, Kuala Lumpur, received used clothing and Raya money under the programme.
“With this donation of clothes and Eid money, we hope to bring happiness to the urban poor in the month of Ramadan,” he said.
According to Azizan, the used apparel was a contribution from the Game Santai Sahur (GSS) programme, which received donations of 700 clothing items and Raya money from veteran football players.
Shoes, songkok, telekung, dolls, and foodstuff were also available.
