Why act against your critics, ‘Lim Sian See’ asks Rafizi

PETALING JAYA: Social media influencer “Lim Sian See” has questioned economy minister Rafizi Ramli’s claim that he was evading authorities by using a pseudonym.

“Lim” said he found it odd that Rafizi, the PKR deputy president, would want action to be taken against critics when the party had once declared itself to be the “most democratic party in Southeast Asia”.

“Lim” was alluding to the claim made by PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari in 2022, when he took a swipe at former party deputy president Azmin Ali.

“How can a party that claims to be democratic want action to be taken against its critics. That reeks of despotism,” he said in a message to FMT.

“Rafizi should instead counter critics via debates.”

“Lim” said that if he had defamed anyone by his criticisms, then his detractors should lodge a police report and sue him.

“But I have never lied or slandered anyone,” he said.

He was responding to a report by New Straits Times which quoted Rafizi as saying that “Lim” evaded authorities by using the alias “to criticise anyone without facing any consequences”.

“Lim” also said he had no issue complying with the conditions set by the Pandan MP for their expected meeting, including for him to use his actual name and providing his identity card details and full address.

Rafizi had stipulated the requirements to ensure the person did not hide behind the “Lim Sian See” persona.

“Lim” jokingly asked if Rafizi wanted his blood type and vaccination status

“He should just set a date as Rafizi made the challenge in February. Now we are approaching the end of April,” he said.

He also said he was puzzled by Rafizi taking a swipe at him by stating that he craved for attention.

“If I recall, it was Rafizi who said he wanted to invite me over to the podcast, and now when I follow up on the challenge, I am accused of craving for attention.” - FMT
