PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s senior men’s doubles pairs fell at the quarter-final stage of the 2024 Malaysia Masters badminton tournament today, leaving youngsters Yap Roy King and Wan Arif Wan Junaidi to carry the flag in the semi-finals.
Former world champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik were sent packing after they fell 21-11, 19-21, 19-21 to the South Korean pair of Jin Yong and Na Sung Seung in today’s quarter-finals.
Former Malaysia Masters runners-up Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun are also out of the competition after falling 21-18, 21-16 to the Chinese pair of He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu in the last-eight tie.
Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani were easily defeated 21-19, 21-17 by the Danish pair of Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, the tournament’s second seed.
Astrup-Rasmussen will meet Roy King-Wan Arif, who had qualified for the semi-final after beating Danish sixth seeds Rasmus Kjaer and Frederik Sogaard 21-18, 14-21, 21-18. - FMT
