Yeoh said she sympathised with the 31-year-old and that her ministry had contacted Pei Jing to get information on her predicament, Berita Harian reported.
“We are in touch with her to obtain further information. I want to know more so that we can determine how to assist her,” said the minister.
In a Facebook post last night, Pei Jing said she lost almost all of her savings to a syndicate, which she described as an “extremely heavy blow” after saving up for decades.
Nonetheless, Pei Jing, who is ranked world No 23 together with Tan Kian Meng, said she was determined to move forward and would share more on her experience in the future to prevent others from falling prey to scams.
She has also lodged a police report. - FMT
