PETALING JAYA: An inquiry paper will be opened into the death of a General Operations Force (GOF) policeman who died from heatstroke while participating in a training event in Perak several days ago.
Bukit Aman management director Azmi Abu Kassim confirmed the matter when contacted, saying the inquiry paper would “definitely” be opened.
Meanwhile, Ulu Kinta GOF training centre commander Hafiz Kadir told FMT that an inquiry paper was standard procedure when such incidents occur.
“We have already sent the report on the death to Bukit Aman and are awaiting instructions from Bukit Aman’s management department on whether (an inquiry paper) needs to be opened.”
Lance corporal Zulkifly Rozak, 31, from Platoon 6, Company B, 7th Battalion in Ipoh, collapsed during a cross-country run on Thursday and died yesterday without regaining consciousness due to heatstroke and organ failure.
He was participating in a basic course at the Ulu Kinta GOF Training Centre, which began on April 28 and was set to conclude on July 26. - FMT
