PETALING JAYA: Police have detained a 27-year-old man suspected of defaming the Kelantan government and altering images of the state secretary on TikTok.

Kelantan police chief Zaki Harun said the suspect was arrested at 5.30pm yesterday at a house in Kuantan after police received a report about the alleged offences on TikTok.

“The (TikTok) post depicted images that appeared to resemble the Kelantan state secretary alongside statements that tarnished the reputation of the state government,” he said in a Bernama report.

“The suspect will be remanded for three days from today,” he said, adding that the man also has a drug-related criminal record.

He added that the case is being investigated under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

2 civil servants nabbed over fraudulent land transfer

In a separate Bernama report, Zaki said two civil servants were among five suspects arrested on suspicion of fraudulently transferring land using forged documents in Kota Bharu on May 31.

He said the suspects, aged between 29 and 52, were detained following a report of fraudulent use of land transfer documents.

“In this case, a company director suspected that her siblings’ signatures were forged on the land transfer documents for her family’s land, which measures 0.051ha,” he said during a press conference in Jeli.

“The land was sold to three buyers without their knowledge, resulting in a RM400,000 loss.”

Zaki said all the suspects had been remanded for six days under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

In an unrelated case, two 37-year-old men were arrested last Saturday for allegedly selling fake gold jewellery in Kota Bharu and Rantau Panjang.

Zaki said two Thai women in their 60s were deceived by the suspects into buying two fake gold chains, one for RM4,000 and another for RM3,500.

He said the two suspects had been remanded until tomorrow for investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code. - FMT
