KOTA KINABALU: Continuous rain forced 12 people to evacuate their houses at Kampung Perumahan Tanjung, Jalan Istana Ayam Tua in Tuaran on Monday (June 3) night.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Senior Assistant Fire Comm Mohd Ishak Amran said the victims, comprising seven men and five women, are currently seeking shelter at their relatives' homes.
He said a team of 11 men led by Mohamad Nor Amit was rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 9.44pm.
“The team arrived at the location, just two kilometres away from the Tuaran fire station, six minutes later.
“As the water level continued to rise, we had to evacuate 12 people from their houses and helped them to temporarily stay at their relatives' homes," he said, adding that the operation ended at 10.30pm
