KOTA KINABALU: A woman died after she was flung out of a car in an accident at Kampung Kawang in Kinarut, Papar, on Monday evening (June 3).
The 44-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the scene by medical officers, while two others, aged 16 and 39, who were also in the car, sustained minor injuries.
Initial investigation revealed that their car veered off a slippery stretch, causing the victim to be thrown out before the vehicle ended up in a ditch about 50m from the road.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Services Department Senior Assistant Fire Comm Mohd Ishak Amran said a team of 11 men led by Mohd Hamdani Mohd Harith was dispatched to the scene after receiving the distress call at 4.46pm.

“Upon arriving, firemen found one of the victims on the road.
“One of the injured victims was removed by the public, while another, who was pinned in the wreckage, was taken out by firemen using special equipment,” he said.
He added that the woman’s body had been surrendered to the police for further action.
The two injured victims were given first aid before they were sent to the Papar District Hospital for further treatment.
