Mafia-style, the Umno elite gun after Anwar

Mafia-style, the Umno elite gun after Anwar

We corrupt in order to rule. - G. Mazzini, Founder of the Mafia

That quote could just as well be attributed to one of our local political parties.

Anyway, in regards to the Mafia, it is an international conglomerate with connections at very high levels. Its octopus-like tentacles permeates all levels of society

as they exercise an iron-claw grip on all their networks.

To go against them would be amounting to signing one's own death warrant but that may be just what Pakatan Rakyat leader Anwar Ibrahim is doing in going against the Maf..., oops, sorry, Umno.

Umno has got people everywhere and anywhere as Anwar's car has been sabotaged and his daughter Nurul Izzah has received death threats via text messages in regards to her daughter. This is getting too personal and already resembles the standard operating procedure (S.O.P.) of organized crime syndicates.

The national institutions which ought to be neutral and independant have all been subjugated under Umno's interests thus putting a stranglehold on democracy. Does this not indicate Umno's Machiavellian influence in all levels of society?

Plan A

On Monday, 16th May, the court will decide whether Anwar will be called to testify as a witness in his own defence or to acquit him in the Sodomy II Trial.

Indeed, BN seems to engage in no-holds barred efforts to get rid of Anwar. Perhaps, someone has issued an order for Anwar to be brought down by hook or by crook. Some higher-up must have given these instructions: get Anwar, nail him, destroy him at all costs.

Therefore Pakatan Rakyat has to be prepared for all eventualities.

"Even if Anwar is acquitted at the end of the day in the Sodomy II trial, Umno still hopes that Anwar's image will be sufficiently damaged in order for him to lose credibility among the Malays," PKR assemblyman for Teja Chang Lih Kang told Malaysia Chronicle.

"For Najib, destroying Anwar is of paramount importance. He wants to regain two-thirds majority in Parliament, otherwise, his rivals in Umno will start to whisper that he is a failure."

Plan B

In the event that Anwar is acquitted, there is still Plan B, a.k.a. sex video. This is another indication that Anwar's enemies operate like a highly organized crime syndicate - always have Plan B in case Plan A fails.

"Regarding the sex video, there will be two songs for Anwar. The first song is that he is the man in the video while the second song is that he is NOT the man in the video," Seremban MP John Fernandez told Malaysia Chronicle.

"Right now the second song is much louder than the first. As long as no concrete action is being taken against the Datuk T trio, the government loses credibility while Anwar's credibility increases."

According to Fernandez, as far as the Chinese are concerned, the community has concluded that the man is not Anwar as they opined that the body of the actor filmed having sex with the prostitute is too bulky. This they surmised from the constant showing of the video on the 8pm news on the telly.

As for the Indians, the educated ones are also convinced it is not Anwar while the uneducated ones are too busy trying to cope with the rising costs of living to bother with such inconsequential matters.

"It is only with regards to the Malays that the video will have an effect, especially in the rural areas. I suppose they are the target group of this sex video as there are many rural Malay seats in Parliament and the state assemblies," added Fernandez, who is also a lawyer.

When lessons go unlearnt

Which brings us to why there are so many rural Malay seats in Parliament and the state assemblies. As in Sarawak, the answer for the gerrymandering is obvious - in order for Umno to control the Malays so as to be able to stay in power. Forever.

It is the job of the Election Commission in carving out the boundaries or demarcation of seats at Parliament and the state legislative assemblies and it is vital for them to remain politically neutral.

For daring to lead Pakatan to oppose Umno-BN, Anwar and his family have to bear the brunt of the coalition's ruthless attacks. This unhealthy level of politics is very dangerous and damaging to the image of the country at the world's stage and can affect Malaysia's economic well-being.

But all these are oblivious to Umno.

"Umno has reached the point of no-return. Their actions show that their insanity level has reached 100 per cent but it is a pity not all the electorate know of this," PAS assemblyman for Titi Serong Khalil Idham Lim told Malaysia Chronicle.

By the way, 16th May, the day of Anwar's court decision is also Teachers' Day. Has Najib learnt anything at all from his teachers? - Malaysia Chronicle
