An 'insulting' photo on Facebook has got local Muslims in Penang riled

TASEK GELUGOR: The ‘pandikutti’ mania seems to have crept into the social media as well.

Tasek Gelugor division Umno youth wing yesterday lodged a police report against a Facebook link named “Melayu Memang Babi” (Malays Are Really Pigs).

A check showed that the link had also tagged a photo of a piglet as its profile picture.

The link seemed to be associated to a group forum rather than individual.

The youth wing head Hasbul Hazani Daud lodged a police report against the link at 2.30pm in Sungai Dua police station after the Friday prayers.

He was accompanied by some 30 Umno youth members from the division.

When contacted, Hasbul said the link name and profile picture had insulted Malays.

“Such racism should not occur in a multi-racial country like ours,” he told FMT.

He called on the police to investigate the case immediately and nab the perpetuators behind the link.

“We want the police to charge the culprits under the relevant laws as soon as possible.

“Malays would not tolerate such an insult,” he said.
