KLANG, Sept 11 — The Attorney General (A-G) Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail has the prerogative to act or not against PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu for his Bukit Kepong statements, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
The minister said the matter was largely legal, which is why the Attorney-General should decide on what Mohamad, who is popularly known as Mat Satu, about the attack on a British Malaya police station in 1950.
He was speaking after launching the lantern festival and Merdeka Raya celebrations here last night, Bernama Online reported.
Investigation papers have been sent to Bukit Aman, Penang police chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob is reported to have said. The matter is now in the hands of the public prosecutor’s office.
Hishammuddin (picture) did clarify that the statements were not a security threat therefore Mohamad is not being investigated under the Internal Security Act.
