Brickfields shuts down for an hour

Brickfields traders shut down their shops for one hour today in protest of constant traffic changes.

KUALA LUMPUR: In protest of sudden traffic changes, businesses in Brickfields closed down for an hour starting at 11.10am today, leaving a very quiet Little India.

Coming out in numbers and carrying black flags, shopkeepers here closed their businesses to bring the normally noisy Little India to a strange quiet.

The traders said they are fed up with the constant changes to Brickfields’ traffic dispersal system, especially with the last-minute contra-flow addition along Jalan Tun Sambanthan.

They claim that the changes cause unnecessary congestion, and are chasing customers away from the area.

However the protest did not last the full hour as some traders started opening their businesses after about 40 minutes.
