The deputy Inspector-General of Police told the news portal that the student activist should consider both the consequences of his actions to himself as well as to the public order.
Khalid added that while he was unable to divulge the details of any possible police action against Adam, “he shouldn’t do something that he will regret later”.
He also advised Adam’s family to lodge a police report over threats they are said to have received following his participation in a student protest earlier this month.
The 21-year-old student of Sultan Idris University of Education purportedly lowered a flag bearing the likeness of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) during the peaceful protest and the threats warned that he would be hurt if he were seen in public.
On December 17, student activists representing Solidariti Anak Malaysia gathered at the Masjid Jamek LRT station before walking to the Suhakam office in the Maju Junction building and from there to Umno’s headquarters at Menara Datuk Onn, which is beside PWTC.
Apart from lobbying the government to repeal the Universities and University Colleges Act (UUCA), the 100-strong group also urged the government to grant them free rein to manage their own student affairs, including financial matters.
