Amid revelation of fake MyKad owners listed as voters by the Election Commission, Pakatan Rakyat plans to organise a mammoth rally at the Bukit Jalil stadium on November 3.
Dubbed as ‘People’s Uprising’, PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu said the coalition was expecting a million people for the event.
He said the gathering was aimed to pressure the BN government to implement the eight demands put forward by electoral reforms coalition Bersih 2.0, especially on weaknesses related to the electoral roll and unfair media coverage.
“These eight demands by the people have been ignored, hence we need another gathering this November 3," he said, adding that NGOs and the public who supported previous Bersih rallies would also be involved.
Yesterday, Harakahdaily reported that a Filipino in Sabah, recently convicted of a charge of buying a fake MyKad, had his name listed as a voter in Sepanggar, Sabah. Another Filipino sentenced to jail for a similar charge in 2010 was also found to be still a registered voter in Pasir Gudang, Johor. The revelation came amid the EC's insistence that only genuine citizens whose details were recorded in the National Registration Department could be eligible to vote.
