Liow denies complaining to DPM about MCA meet

MCA deputy president Liow Tiong Lai has denied that he asked Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to interfere in MCA's extraordinary general meeting (EGM) that will be held on Sunday.

This follows MCA president Dr Chua Soi Lek's statement yesterday that "somebody had complained" to the BN deputy chairperson about the party's EGM, at which a motion to censure Liow is to be tabled.

NONE"Recently, there have been people trying to confuse the MCA central delegates by pointing fingers at me, at closed-door meetings and cell phone SMSes, saying that I am the one who asked the deputy prime minister to interfere in the coming MCA EGM.

"I would like to clarify that the accusation is groundless, that it is unfounded slander and character assassination against me," Liow told a press conference today.

The Bentong MP said he has always upheld the sovereignty of the party and would not agree to Umno or any other political party interfering in the internal affairs of MCA.

"I never complained to the deputy prime minister on anything about the EGM. As to who complaint to the deputy prime minister, the media can ask Chua or the deputy prime minister directly," Liow added.
