ROS' polls double standards gets DAP whipping

The Registrar of Societies (ROS) has gone out of the way in playing peacemaker by asking MCA to drop a resolution to censure its deputy president Liow Tiong Lai but is ignoring its immediate responsibility concerning alleged irregularities in the Umno polls, says the DAP.

The party's Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching pointed out that despite justification by Umno leaders that the irregularities were isolated and did not warrant a re-election, its situation was no different than that of DAP's if not worse.

In DAP's case, the ROS had forced the party to hold a re-election after it admitted to a botch up in the tabulation process of its party polls' results.

"(Umno Youth chief) Khairy Jamaluddin alleged that the irregularities in Umno's wing elections last Saturday were only ‘isolated cases' and did not need ROS to take action.

NONE"His statement is ridiculous to me to say that the irregularities were only ‘isolated cases', wasn't tabulation error in the DAP elections last year an ‘isolated case' as well?" queried Teo (right) in a statement today.

Furthermore, she aid another Umno leader, Abdul Rahman Dahlan's justification that DAP's situation was different as it involved constitution matters while Umno's was only procedural problems made no sense.

"Perhaps he can enlighten us, why the tabulation error in the DAP elections were ‘constitution issues' which warranted the fresh elections, while the ‘procedural problems' he claimed isn't the same with technical error and should face the same action?" he said.

 Indirect admission of guilt

She added that Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Mansor's statement that not more than 10 percent of Umno divisions faced technical glitches was an admission of guilt and the ROS should act at once

"I believe that these cases are just tips of the iceberg. Meanwhile, we still have not heard anything from the ROS.

"Will the ROS probe the issues raised in the Umno elections and take actions against Umno such as ordering fresh polls?

"Is their silence towards Umno is an admission that they are Umno's running dogs and no more an impartial body?" she said.
