Cops probe shooting at plant, Minister’s house

Second shooting incident within months at Local Government and Community Development Minister Wong Soon Koh’s house.
Wong Soon KohKUCHING: Police are investigating two shooting incidents in Kuching on Friday, the first at a newspaper plant, and another at a Sarawak Minister’s house. The newspaper plant publishes the See Hua Daily News, Borneo Post and Utusan Borneo.
Both incidents happened half an hour apart, according to a report by the Star Online on Friday.
In the second incident, at 5.35 am, shots were fired at the residence of Local Government and Community Development Minister Wong Soon Koh, some 3 km from the newspaper plant. The neighbour, a 45-year-old woman, reported the shooting to the police.
This is not the first incident of its kind at Wong’s house.
A similar incident took place on August 14 last year.
Wong’s son, Sibu Municipal Council deputy President Andrew Wong, said he was shocked to see bullet holes on the same glass panel of a bedroom on the first floor.
In the earlier incident on Friday, at 5 am, four bullet holes were found on the glass panel of the newspaper plant, and another five on the top of a cement wall at the premises.
A female security guard, completing her morning rounds, reported hearing the shots. She did not see anyone, according to police.
See Hua Daily News reported that the shots were probably fired from outside the gate. The main glass door is just ten feet away.
