A SINCERE APOLOGY TO AirAsia Berhad and AirAsia X Berhad

This is with regard to a post entitled “Malaysian Flights Threat to Pearl Harbour” that was put up on this blog here on 12th November 2019 with reference to that downgrade by the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on CAAM or Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia.

In that post I had mistakenly and wrongly directed some of my comment/remarks at AirAsia Berhad. Since the relevant airline that flies to the US is AirAsia X, this apology is also to AirAsia X Berhad.

It has been pointed out to me that my comment/remarks were defamatory of and concerning AirAsia Berhad / AirAsia X Berhad. I accept that those defamatory comments are untrue, false and unfounded and regret that they were ever published. I unreservedly withdraw those comments and the suggestions conveyed by them and unequivocally extend my sincere apologies to both AirAsia Berhad and AirAsia X Berhad for my mistake.

I have to clarify that the downgrade by the US FAA was directed at CAAM and was not directed at any individual airline flying from Malaysia to and from the United States. Hence, all my comments that were written on the 12th of November 2019 which mentioned AirAsia Berhad (and by extension AirAsia X Berhad) were untrue and unfounded and should be ignored.

Without attempting to reduce the gravity and sincerity of this Apology, might I add that no malice was intended towards both AirAsia Berhad and AirAsia X Berhad.

In a follow up posting the very next day i.e. 13th November 2019 regarding this FAA issue, I began my post by stating that FAA’s downgrade “is not on AirAsia X as an airline”.

I also repeated a statement by the US FAA which said “This is an assessment of CAAM and not any individual airline operating in Malaysia”. Regrettably I overlooked to apologise to AirAsia Berhad/AirAsia X Berhad in that second post.

Yours sincerely,

Syed Akbar Ali

p.s. This Apology will remain here for fourteen days (2/1/2020 until 15/1/2020).
