KOTA BARU: As of Sunday, there are 146 members of the police force and their family members tested positive for Covid-19.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said another 100 policemen and their families were ordered to undergo quarantine after being in close contact with the positive cases.
"These 146 positive cases include 13 senior officers and 86 family members. Those tested positive were either being quarantined at their homes or at hospitals statewide," he said in a statement tonight.
However, Shafien said no one from the police force had succumbed to the virus so far.
He added that majority of them had been exposed to the virus due to the nature of their work.
Their absence, however, did not cause any serious strain on police manpower and policing duties, said Shafien. - NST
