Police said they did not receive any notice from Singapore over a police helicopter flying into the republic’s airspace.
The intrusion occurred this morning when a police helicopter en route from Johor Bahru to Pengerang flew over the edge of Singapore's Pulau Tekong - which is used by the Singapore military as a training base.
A check on flight tracker website FlightRadar24 indicated that the Malaysian aircraft had entered Singapore’s airspace momentarily.
Bukit Aman public order and internal security director Hazani Ghazali in a statement said the police helicopter had flown "near" Singapore.
"Police confirm that a police helicopter did fly near Singapore’s airspace during official duties.
"Until now, there has been no notice from Singapore's air authorities regarding an incident that the helicopter had entered Singapore’s airspace," Hazani said.
A military news website alert5 alleged that Singapore had scrambled F-16 fighter jets after the Malaysian helicopter flew past Pulau Tekong.
Hazani, however, denied this when contacted by Free Malaysia Today. - Mkini
