Former deputy health minister Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin is now the special adviser to Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
Her name is listed in that position in the Health Ministry’s directory for the minister’s office.
The Umno supreme council member confirmed her appointment with Malaysiakini.
A lawyer by training, Rosnah (above) had served as deputy health minister from 2009 to 2013 under the first Najib Abdul Razak administration.
She later served as deputy works minister from 2013 until 2018.
A three-term Papar MP, she lost the seat in the 2018 general election to Warisan.
Khairy was appointed as health minister in a portfolio swap with Dr Adham Baba under Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s cabinet.
He has two deputies, Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali from Bersatu, and Aaron Ago Dagang from GPS - both of whom were retained in their current posts, which they held under the Muhyiddin Yassin government.
Under Khairy’s helm, the Health Ministry has taken over full control of the country’s vaccination programme.
He has also announced that Covid-19 will now be treated as an endemic disease and that simpler SOPs would be announced soon so that people can return to normal lives. - Mkini
