Embattled Negeri Sembilan PKR chief Aminuddin Harun has dismissed claims of his failure to lead and strengthen the state PKR divisions, as alleged by members of the party.
Aminuddin said the Covid-19 pandemic and the restrictions under the movement control order (MCO) had prevented him from meeting PKR grassroots or organising programmes in recent months.
“Nevertheless, I have still been in touch with them. How can I possibly hold programmes when we are not allowed to do so?
“I don’t see any problems here. But I will have a state meeting before the end of this month and sort this out,” he said, as reported by The Star Online today.
Aminuddin, who is also the Negeri Sembilan menteri besar, said they had stopped organising programmes since May due to the Covid-19 situation.
Yesterday, a joint statement expressing a loss of confidence in the Negeri Sembilan PKR chief had included the names of four assemblypersons, namely Ismail Ahmad (Labu), M Ravi (Sri Tanjung), Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek (Ampangan) and Michael Yek Diew Ching (Chuah).
However, Yek had since denied involvement and stressed the matter should be resolved internally.
In the joint statement, it said the signatories had been upset at Aminuddin’s management of the party and wanted a reshuffle of the state line-up.
The four PKR lawmakers also issued a clarification that this is an internal party affair, amid concerns that it could also undermine the stability of the Pakatan Harapan-led Negeri Sembilan state government.
They have also since sought intervention from PKR president Anwar Ibrahim. State chiefs are appointed by Anwar.
Pakatan Harapan has 20 assemblypersons in the 36-member State Legislative Assembly, comprising 11 DAP, six PKR and three Amanah representatives. - Mkini
