Cinema chain operator Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) will not reopen its doors just yet, pending guidelines from the government.
In a short announcement on Twitter, the company said it is also working to ensure that there is enough content to show in its cinemas.
"We will not be opening tomorrow. We are making sure we are ready with proper SOP from the government, and also have enough content to show.
"We appreciate your patience and stay tuned for updates," GSC said on its official Twitter account.
It added that movie studios are also "rushing" to get content ready for air, and there are movies that have been sent for censorship review.
"We will have movies like Shangchi (in our cinemas), but please give us some time. Thank you for your understanding!" the company said, referring to Marvel Studio's latest superhero movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The government yesterday announced the relaxation of rules for the creative art industries, which is to begin tomorrow especially for those who have completed their Covid-19 immunisation.
Among the activities that would be allowed include watching movies in cinemas, theatrical performances, studio recording, and live shows (including those open to public audience), as well as indoor busking and performance at hotel lounges.
Meanwhile, another major cinema chain Tanjung Golden Village Cinemas (TGV) has reportedly also taken a similar decision.
