4 killed in collision between van, express bus

KUALA TERENGGANU: Four technicians were killed when the van they were in collided with an express bus at Kampung Sungai Ikan in Kuala Nerus yesterday evening.

The crash occurred at about 6.20pm when the van, which was on its way from Setiu to Kuala Terengganu, was overtaking a car and collided with the oncoming express bus, Kuala Nerus fire and rescue station chief Azmi Omar said.

Three of the victims were identified as Syed Mohd Shukri Tuan Yahya, 36, Muhammad Saufi Jusoh, 34, and Mohd Shahlan, 37. The van driver was not immediately identified.

Azmi said the driver of the car and a passenger in another car were injured, while the 13 passengers and driver of the express bus, which was heading from Temerloh, Pahang, to Jertih, were unhurt. - FMT
