Alam Flora tells public to properly dispose of rubbish

Solid waste management company Alam Flora Sdn Bhd is asking the members of the public to dispose of rubbish properly.

The waste management company made the statement following a clean-up operation after flash floods hit the capital yesterday afternoon.

Based on Alam Flora's photos on social media, rubbish was scattered along the roads around the Bangsar area - which was an issue also raised by netizens before.

"It is hoped that the public will also help reduce littering by disposing of waste in the right place.

"Throw rubbish in the rubbish bin and not into drains or rivers.

"Love our city. Clean cities live sustainably," said the company.

Several social media users began reporting floods from around 3.30pm.

The continuous heavy rain saw many main roads around Kuala Lumpur flooded.

At 4pm, DBKL reported that roads near Parliament were already flooded.

Among the routes are Jalan Segambut, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Genting Klang, Jalan Sungai Besi, Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim.

The following roads were also flooded: Jalan Semantan, Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah and the Sultan Iskandar Highway.

The last time Kuala Lumpur faced major flooding was in December last year. - Mkini
